A Special Friendship

Years ago I met a man who seemed very unique to me. Because of the way he was brought up and I was brought up was light-years, away you see.

This man was raised on faith by his father and mother and his sisters and brothers were used to showing love to one another.

Now it was different for me, I was always alone because in my case my dad was always gone. Now as the months slipped by we became friends for life. Now this might have been a little difficult if not for the fact that his daughter is my wife.

It warms my heart and soul to know that I crossed paths with this man. Sometimes he puts his arm around my shoulder and reaffirms that our friendship will always stand.

It's difficult to pinpoint a moment in your life when fate smiles down on you. Because it's so fleeting, but after 29 years of friendship it's as strong as it was at our first meeting.

I don't call him Dad but I wish I had, it's always been JC. Because he has showed me more love as a son-in-law then my real father ever showed me.

Now you can't have a second hand friendship and you can't buy one at a discount. A million dollars won't buy you a friend, you can't even rent one for that amount.

My friendship comes second only to my wife and kid's you know. It will always be amazing to me that we even met, I'm from Kentucky and he's from Ohio.

Well that's the way it's been, and that's the way it will be until the day we die. When our paths are washed out there's no doubt, only then we will say good-bye.

Dedicated: to my father-in-law
