My Visiting Squirrel

Today I did absolutely nothing at all but gained an awful lot. It's not where you are and it's not who you are and for sure it's not what you've got.

I went outside and and opened up my barn and just sat there in the door .I saw things going on around me that I had never saw before.

I watched birds swoop down for the bread on the ground, fly away, and come back for more.

I put some nuts under a tree and just sat back to see how long it would be before a squirrel came to visit me.

Only one showed up, but boy what a show! He started eating the nuts just as fast as he could go.

Then he did something funny, as if on cue ...he would bury one and eat two. He would put two nuts in his mouth and be gone like a shot. Then he would come back and run up the tree and look around to see if he had been caught.

I may be nuts in the way I think and see, but every time he ate a nut he was facing my way as if he was thanking me.

Now the nuts are all gone and he moves on, leaving me setting here all alone, but I will be back and so will he... looking for more nuts under the tree.

They will be there just like before and I will be watching him from my barn door.
