" Paul "

When you are fighting a war even loosing it can sometmes makes you a winner.

I know someone who is fighting the battle of his life. But he will not give in. He is my brother-in-law, but he has been my friend for 26 years.

He has Lou-Gehrigs disease. But his mind is so sharp it could sit on a head of a pin. And he has a smile that will reach out and grab you.

One of my best memories of him was after he was confined to his motorized wheelchair, and we went shopping. He was doing wheelies and circles in the middle of the parking lot, with that big smile on his face. That memory will stay with my for the rest of my life.

He has shown me more courage then I dreamed could ever exist in one person.

If I was giving out rank for bravery and courage it would have to be an Admiral.

I do not know if I could be that brave.

He did not lock himself in silence or say "WHY ME?"

He was pushed against a wall but he found a door that opened to the other side of his life.

He has just became a grandfather at 37 years old and instead of closing the book He just opened a new chapter.

And though he has felt the pain and the rage, he has not given up on life.

And in my eyes his cup truly runs over.

As I drag his name across my mind, I put my right hand just above my right eye brow

I SALUTE YOU ADMIRAL PAUL CAMPBELL.

Love you,

The Old Man.
